About Pablo Neruda

Pablo Neruda was born in Parral, Chile, in 1904. He began writing poetry at a young age and published his first collection, Crepusculario, in 1923. However, he soon developed his own unique style, which is characterized by its use of vivid imagery, its passionate language, and its deep humanity.

Neruda was a political activist as well as a poet. He was a member of the Chilean Communist Party and served as a diplomat for the Chilean government. Neruda's political beliefs often influenced his poetry, which often addressed social and political issues

Neruda was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1971. He died in Santiago, Chile, in 1973, just days after the military coup that brought General Augusto Pinochet to power.
