Early Life

Michael Jeffrey Jordan was born on February 17, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York. He was the fourth of five children born to James and Deloris Jordan. Jordan's father was a mechanic and his mother was a bank teller. The family moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, when Jordan was two years old.

Jordan was a natural athlete from a young age. He excelled in baseball, football, and basketball. Jordan played basketball for Laney High School in Wilmington, where he led the team to three state championships.

College Career

Jordan attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he played for the Tar Heels under coach Dean Smith. Jordan was a three-time All-American and led the Tar Heels to the 1982 NCAA championship. He was also named the ACC Player of the Year three times.

NBA Career

Jordan was drafted by the Chicago Bulls with the third overall pick in the 1984 NBA Draft. He quickly became one of the most popular players in the league, and led the Bulls to their first NBA championship in 1991. Jordan is now a successful businessman and philanthropist. He is the owner of the Charlotte Hornets NBA team and the 23XI Racing NASCAR team. He is also a partner in the Fenway Sports Group, which owns the Boston Red Sox MLB team and the Liverpool FC soccer team.
